Tour Overview

This is a perfect tour combination that focuses on six famous locations. You will tour around the historic Stone Town, visiting the House of Wonders, Freddy Mercury’s House, the Arab Fort, Zanzibar’s busy market, former slave market and much more.

You will explore the Jozani Forest, seeing a variety of Flora and Fauna. The forest is home for a variety of plants and trees that are used as natural remedies to treat many of the locals!

It would not be a complete trip to the Zanzibar Island without taking a spice tour! The Spice Tour is one of the most popular tours on the island. You will have an opportunity to visit Masingini forest, the forest can be reached on foot, hiking amongst the red colobus, velvet and Sykes monkeys and also a chance to see some ancient trees.

You will visit Nakupenda Beach Island which is well-known as a romantic getaway. The island is perfect for relaxing while you enjoy the breeze of the Indian Ocean, and you will a chance to taste a wide range of seafood (options).

Itinerary

Arrive at the Airport/Seaport.

Arrive, and get picked up at the Airport/Seaport. A brief presentation about your tour. Transfer to Tembo House hotel or similar in Stone Town, for two nights stay.

Stone Town Tour – morning

  • After breakfast, leave for a guided tour walking through narrow streets of the historical spots, a heritage old Stone Town where history seems to stand still.
  • Tour through the House of Wonders, Freddy Mercury’s House, the Arab Fort, Zanzibar’s busy market, former slave market, Tip Tipp House, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors and balconies, the two Cathedrals and historical Mosques. This is followed by a drive to Jozani Forest tour.

Jozani Forest Tour – afternoon

  • Drive to Jozani Forest; explore the forest that hosts a variety of Flora and Fauna.
  • A chance to see the last remaining sanctuaries of the Red Colobuses Monkey.
  • Visit and walk through the Mangrove swamp which has spectacular views. A habitat for various reptiles such as snakes, lizards, birdlife and more.
  • Drive back to Tembo house hotel or similar in Stone Town. Food at Forodhani Park, for some tasty typical Zanzibarian street food, then back to your hotel accommodation for overnight stay.

Spice Tour – morning

  • After breakfast, around 9:00 leave your hotel and drive to the Spice tour. A guided tour, walking through spice farms, meets farmers, and sees how spices are grown and cultivated.
  • Explore the natural and the beautiful island, that is filled with a variety of spice plants/trees and exotic fruit trees.
  • Tour spice farms/plantations with a chance to see how spices are grown cultivated and packaged.
  • A chance to taste some exotic food cooked with local spices, taste some tropical fruits and watch an ambitious and energetic local person climbing coconut trees, which is an interesting event!
  • After the tour you will enjoy the traditional Swahili lunch in the farm, fresh, and hygienically prepared and cooked by local people at the farm. At the end of the tour you will be able to support farmers selling spices at stalls, then drive to Masingini forest.

Masingini Forest Tour – Afternoon

  • Arrive at Masingini forest after the spice tour, the forest can be reached on foot, hiking amongst red colobus, velvet and Sykes monkeys and also a chance to see ancient trees.
  • Masingini forest is located in the west about 8 km from Zanzibar, close to Stone Town.
  • It’s famous for its unusual Flora and Fauna (trees/vegetation and animals). Home for over 179 plant types, and habitat for lots of herbs and shrubs that are used in traditional medicine.
  • A chance to see small antelope mammal called Blue Duiker. After the tour you will return back to your hotel around 17:00 for dinner and overnight stay.
  • The tour highlights both Nakupenda Beach Island and Prison Island tour which incorporate the visit to huge turtles sanctuary and a past quarantine island.        
  • After breakfast, it’s a full-day guided tour that starts in the morning from Forodhani garden, the centre point of Stone Town. You will enjoy the beautiful Sandy beach with crystal clear water which is perfect for swimming, snorkelling, diving and relax as you sunbathe on the sandbank.
  • Explore both Nakupenda Beach Prison Island including; tasting seafood, spices and tropical fruits.
  • You will have a traditional Swahili beach lunch, the tour includes a ride on a wooden dhow to Prison Island for the rest of the afternoon.
  • Return to Tembo House hotel or similar hotel in Stone Town around 17:00, and then to Forodhani Park for some tasty Zanzibarian street food, then back to your hotel for an overnight stay.
  • After breakfast, a day trip on a beautiful and traditional dhow (dhows – sailing vessels used) around the Menai Bay.
  • The tour includes swimming, snorkelling (equipment will be provided), and you will have the option to have seafood lunch on the remote island beach and a chance to relax on a sandbank.
  • It’s an unforgettable experience for you, families and friends to enjoy (children under the age of six go for free).
  • This tour can bring you an incomparable adventure, using an authentic local boat, in the limpid and crystalline waters of Zanzibar, located in the south west tip of the island. You will return to your hotel around 17:00 for dinner and overnight stay.
  • After breakfast, transfer to Amaan Bungalows in Nungwi Beach, the liveliest beach spot located in the Northern tip of Zanzibar Island for one night/last day.
  • A guided walking tour in the village. Learn how local people in the village live and see their everyday lives and how they make a living.
  • The tour provides you with a unique and unforgettable experience as well as to get a glimpse and real insight into rural Zanzibar life, Swahili traditional or costal culture/Swahili language.
  • It begins with a visit to a small village house where locals welcome you, and you hear some Swahili tales, past and present.
  • You will set out on foot, a walking tour that connects a few villages, passing through Seaweed farming, fishermen, handcraft workers, weavers using coconut palms, local herbs, cassava plantation, banana plants, also a local school and a lot more.
  • Tour includes a taster Swahili cooking lessons.
  • A traditional Swahili/Zanzibarian Lunch and then return back to your hotel in Nungwi, where you will enjoy the evening with sunset view, dinner and one night stay.
  • After breakfast, drive back to Stone Town. If time allows go shopping, then Lunch (at your own choice/arrangement), then transfer to the Airport/Seaport.
